RA NA Vice President Mikayel Melkumyan Receives Members of Bulgaria-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria

On October 4, the Vice President of the RA National Assembly Mikayel Melkumyan received the Head of Bulgaria-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria Nikolay Tishev and the member of the Friendship Group Pavel Shopov.

The Head of the RA NA Armenia-Bulgaria Friendship Group Jemma Baghdasaryan and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to RA Maria Pavlova Tzotzorkova-Kaymaktchieva took part in the meeting.

Welcoming the guests in the RA National Assembly, Mikayel Melkumyan has underlined the old friendship and the cultural connections formed between the two peoples, which serve as a good basis for the development of the Armenian-Bulgarian relations.

The RA NA Vice President highlighted the role of the parliamentary diplomacy in the strengthening of  bilateral relations and deepening of cooperation and underscored the importance of the activities of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups.

Mikayel Melkumyan also highlighted the cooperation with Bulgaria in terms of Armenia-EU relations.

Touching upon the issue of the regional security, the RA NA Vice President highlighted the balanced approach of Bulgaria in the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, which is consonant with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and the EU common position.

Thanking the RA NA Vice President for the reception, the Head of Bulgaria-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group Nikolay Tishev highly assessed the relations existing between the two countries. He especially underlined the role of Bulgaria’s Armenian community in strengthening of bilateral relations.

The Head of the RA NA Armenia-Bulgaria Friendship Group Jemma Baghdasaryan emphasized the organization of the joint annual meetings of the Friendship Groups and the online consultations for the exchange of experience.

The interlocutors attached importance to the further expansion and development of cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic, cultural, educational and other spheres.
